UC Santa Cruz Race Recap by Megan Bradley
UC Santa Cruz’s Slugapalooza road race is known for the high number of laps racers must complete on the roads leading to and from campus. The course is short and on a slope, creating the challenge of short recovery time on the downhill immediately followed by a climb. Eric Bryan (UCLA) took the win for the Men’s A race after a successful breakaway from second place, Reese Levine (Cal) with only 4 laps to go. The Women’s B went very well for Danie Monahan (Cal) finishing in first place after 10 laps.
In contrast to the road race, the criterium was a completely flat course. This brought victory for Men’s D racer, Raymond Vo (UCSB). The Women’s A criterium was won by Jo Celso (SFSU) who also won the road race! Thanks for another great race weekend UC Santa Cruz!
